Tonight I’m going to do this penultimate blog from home. So yesterday afternoon I went around downtown Stuttgart. Probably the city deserves a little more time than I gave it. Already the heat in the 35º, and it is preparing for this weekend a big animation. All the places where there are monuments are invaded by stands in the course of installation, which quite badly spoils the decoration. Königstraße, Stuttgart’s main artery, is considered the longest pedestrian street in Germany. And for the record, I walked into a department store just to enjoy the air conditioning. But the best part is that I did some business, an early mail shirt not bad sale 2. Maybe there won’t be two washes?. And it reminded me of the hotel in Tallinn, where the girl asked me for 7€ to wash one. With these good deals I could afford a beer on a well shaded terrace. This morning I was woken up at 5 o’clock by the rain. And at 8 o’clock at the beginning it was a good watering that fell. But at 9, on the road the sun was falling again. Just to bring out the mist, after this rain and spoil beautiful pictures of the Bug Hohenzollern, which is perched at the top of a mountain and that one begins to see more than twenty km away. The Hohenzollern are a noble and royal European family, since the 10th century. They ruled as kings, emperors of Prussia and Romania, and over many German regions. This castle which all the guides recommend to visit, culminates at the top of mount of the same name at 855 m of altitude. It was first built in the year 1000 as a castle, it was completely destroyed in 1423, after a siege of 10 months. It was rebuilt in 1454, having lost strategic importance it fell into ruins. Today we visit the 3rd version built in 1846. In an English neo-gothic style inspired by the Loire castles. Its access by a road in the forest is splendid, of course there is a barrier, the last km is done by minibus. I did not make the interior visit, it is done only in German, every hour and at midday and 15 in English. What’s more, I still had 600 km to go, I had it in my head to go home. The castle is 50 km south of Stuttgart, almost my direction, I thought I would get the highway I thought I saw on the map, pretty quickly. But this highway goes to Zurich. Just back in France, we welcome you with a toll gate. Mulhouse – Lyon 380 km, au total 30€40. I understand well the foreigners who avoid France. The only country of all those I have just crossed to charge for its motorways, except Poland, where it is almost symbolic. And foreigners have nothing to envy to our highways. Arrived on the Lyon ring road the thermometer is at 36º. I’ll sleep well again, but at least I’m home. Two half surprises when arriving at home, drought rages, it was so much to arrive, for my plants. Tomorrow we meet again one last time to take stock of this trip.
